Lightnin' Hopkins was an influential American country blues musician from Centerville, Texas, known for his soulful singing, guitar work, songwriting, and occasional piano playing. Ranked number 71 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists, Hopkins captivated audiences with his unique blend of jazz-like improvisation and poetic lyrics. His style inspired artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams Jr, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In recognition of his impact on blues music, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980.
