Electro Voice RE520 Vocal Condenser Microphone

The RE520 is a premium-grade, high-performance, condenser supercardioid vocal microphone. Designed to reveal the exceptional detail and vivid clarity synonymous with condenser elements, it elegantly delivers the lyrical finesse required for expressive vocal performances, while controlling off-axis sound from near-by sources. The sonic signature is detailed, full and vivid, with a warm and clear low end, natural and present midrange, and an open, crisp and detailed high end. The supercardioid pattern provides excellent acoustic isolation. The multi-stage pop filter consists of two layers of dense foam separated by air, which attenuates wind velocity caused by breath and windblasts. The high-pass filter has two positions - the flat position delivers the full frequency band pass of the capsule, the high-pass position attenuates frequencies below 150 Hz. The internal shock mount isolates the microphone element from vibration and guards against handling noise.

Bine v-am gasit. Sunt Bogdan Curta si o sa va scriu cateva cuvinte despre acest microfon. L-am cumparat in deplina cunostinta de cauza pentru ca am mai avut ocazia de a canta pe el. Interesant este faptul ca spre deosebire de Rode sau alte modele de microfon condencer pe care le-am incercat acesta nu face microfonie. Ok .. sa nu ma intelegeti gresit. Este clar mai sensibil decat un microfon dinamic si este necesara o grija mai mare in amplasarea lui si reglajele de volum pentru a evita microfonia dar paternul sau polar cardioid il face sa se situeze ca si susceptibilitate la microfonie undeva foarte aproape de microfoanele AKG din seria D adica foarte bine pentru un microfon condencer. Sunetul este excelent. Mult mai detaliat in comparatie cu un microfon dinamic. M-as fi bucurat sa am o mai buna prezenta vocala pe joase dar microfonul se comporta foarte bine atunci cand este aplicat un eq deci am reusit sa compensez cu succes acest capriciu sau particularitate a timbrului meu vocal printr-un bust undeva la 180 hz. Ca orice condencer microfonul se comporta optim dupa 15 20 de minute de la pornire odata cu calibrarea termica a preamplificatorului. Pentru vocile feminine este o adevarata exceptie fericita iar vocile masculine suna clar, puternic si in acelasi timp detaliat. Efectul de proximitate este foarte estetic dar niciodata exagerat ceea ce ajuta mai ales vocile masculine. Interesant este ca poate sa fie folosit si in regimde live , situatie pentru care a fost conceput dar si in regim de studio , caz in care este cu mult peste microfoanele dedicate pentru inregistrari gen Behringer B2 , B 1 , Samsoon , sau alte modele cu un pret redus. Ca si sunet este undeva intre AKG si microfoanele Blue. Acest lucru este de asteptat pentru ca Blue este o subdivizie a EV cele doua compani impartasind tehnologia atunci cand este vorba de microfoane. Sunetul este suficient de cald dar in acelasi timp foarte detaliat iar prezenta vocala este foarte buna. Dinamica de asemenea este buna captand in acelasi timp toate detaliile vocii. Pentru un solist experimentat este scenariul ideal insa pentrucei icnepatori acesta este un microfon care nu iarta captand atat inflexiunile frumoase ale vocii cat si eventualele greseli si ezitari. Acesta este microfonul care reda exact ceea ce primeste adaugand un plus de stralucire si prezenta vocala. Are un raport pret calitate foarte bun. Cu adevarat o exceptie in randul microfoanelor aflate pe piata.

It is clearly more sensitive than a dynamic microphone and more care is required in its placement and volume adjustments to avoid microphonics, but its cardioid polar pattern makes it place in terms of susceptibility to microphonics somewhere very close to the AKG D-series microphones that is, very good for a condenser microphone. The sound is excellent. Much more detailed compared to a dynamic microphone. I would have been happy to have a better vocal presence on the bass, but the microphone behaves very well when an eq is applied, so I managed to successfully compensate this whim or peculiarity of my vocal timbre by a bust somewhere at 180 hz. Like any condenser, the microphone behaves optimally after 15-20 minutes after starting up with the thermal calibration of the preamplifier. For female voices it is a real happy exception and male voices sound clear, strong and at the same time detailed. The proximity effect is very aesthetic but never exaggerated, which especially helps male voices. It is interesting that it can be used in live mode, the situation for which it was designed, but also in studio mode, in which case it is far superior to microphones dedicated for recordings such as Behringer B2, B 1, Samsoon, or other models with a reduced price. As for sound, it is somewhere between AKG and Blue microphones. This is to be expected because Blue is a subdivision of EV the two companies sharing technology when it comes to microphones. The sound is sufficiently warm but at the same time very detailed and the vocal presence is very good. The dynamics are also good, capturing all the details of the voice at the same time. For an experienced soloist it is the ideal scenario, but for those who are hesitant, this is a microphone that does not forgive, capturing both the beautiful inflections of the voice as well as possible mistakes and hesitations. This is the microphone that reproduces exactly what it receives, adding extra shine and vocal presence. It has a very good price-quality ratio. Truly an exception among the microphones on the market.
