Mr. Bungle

Mr. Bungle

Mr. Bungle is an American experimental rock band formed in 1985 in Eureka, California. Known for their unpredictable style, the group blends genres like heavy metal, jazz, ska, disco, and funk, often shifting between them within a single song. The band's adventurous sound is driven by frontman Mike Patton's remarkable vocal range and theatrical stage presence, which includes costumes and eclectic live covers. Originally started as a high school death metal project, Mr. Bungle took its name from a character in a 1960 educational film. After releasing several demos in the late eighties, the group gained wider attention when Patton joined Faith No More. Signed to Warner Bros. in 1990, Mr. Bungle released three albums acclaimed for their innovation and genre-bending approach. Despite frequent lineup changes, Patton, guitarist Trey Spruance, and bassist Trevor Dunn have remained the core members. The band went on hiatus in 2000, later reuniting in 2020 with new members to re-record their early demo The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny as a thrash metal album. Throughout their career, Mr. Bungle has stood out for their imaginative and boundary-pushing music and performances.
