Roxette is a Swedish pop rock duo formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, both established artists in Sweden before joining forces. Their partnership began in 1986 with the hit single Neverending Love and the album Pearls of Passion. Roxette achieved international fame with their 1988 album Look Sharp, which produced global chart-toppers like The Look and Listen to Your Heart. They continued their success with hits such as It Must Have Been Love from the film Pretty Woman and Joyride, their best-selling album.
Over their career, Roxette sold between 75 and 80 million records, making them Sweden's second-best-selling act after ABBA. Their singles dominated charts worldwide, including four number ones on the US Billboard Hot 100 and nineteen UK Top 40 hits. The duo toured extensively and released a series of successful albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s. After Marie Fredriksson's illness and passing in 2019, Per Gessle continued the Roxette legacy as PG Roxette. In 2024, a new Roxette tour was announced with Lena Philipsson as the vocalist.
