Stereolab is an Anglo-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990 by Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier. Blending motorik rhythms, vintage electronic keyboards, and dual-language vocals, their music draws on krautrock, jazz, funk, 1960s French pop, and Brazilian influences. Known for their political and philosophical lyrics inspired by Surrealism and Situationism, Stereolab developed a unique, genre-blending sound. Key members over the years have included Mary Hansen and Andy Ramsay, with frequent contributions from Sean O’Hagan. After a break in the 2010s, Stereolab reunited in 2019 and released their new album, Instant Holograms on Metal Film, in 2025.
