Hector Berlioz

Hector Berlioz Vinyl LP Records

Hector Berlioz (1803–1869) was a leading French Romantic composer and conductor, known for his imaginative orchestration and pioneering works. His most famous compositions include the Symphonie fantastique, Harold in Italy, the Requiem, and the operas Benvenuto Cellini, Les Troyens, and Béatrice et Bénédict. Despite early struggles with the musical establishment in Paris and limited success at home, Berlioz achieved international recognition as a conductor and composer, particularly in Germany, Britain, and Russia. His personal life famously inspired his music, especially his passion for actress Harriet Smithson, reflected in Symphonie fantastique. Berlioz was also an influential music writer, with works such as the Treatise on Instrumentation leaving a lasting impact on orchestral music.
