Audio-Technica AT803 Lavalier Dynamic Microphone

The AT803 is a miniature cardioid condenser lavalier microphone designed for discreet body-worn use in broadcast, theatre, presentation, and corporate video applications. Its small form factor allows the capsule to be concealed within clothing while maintaining sufficient sensitivity for clean vocal pickup at typical lavalier working distances. The AT803 connects via TA3F mini XLR for use with Audio-Technica's wireless bodypack transmitters and compatible wired inline preamps.

Cardioid Pattern for Noise Rejection

Unlike omnidirectional lavaliers, the AT803's cardioid polar pattern provides moderate rejection of sound arriving from behind the microphone position, reducing the level of clothing rustle, ambient background noise, and competing voices in multi-person recording environments. This directional advantage makes the AT803 a useful choice for noisy stage and television environments.

Miniature Body-Worn Design

The capsule housing is small enough to be taped or clipped inside garments, mounted on a tie clip, or hidden within theatrical costumes. The flexible cable handles repeated bending and concealment routing without signal degradation, and the TA3F connector provides secure connection to bodypack transmitters.

Frequency Response and Phantom Power

With a frequency range of 30 Hz to 15 kHz, the AT803 covers the full speech intelligibility range. It operates on Audio-Technica's UniMount bodypack power system or via the AT8537 inline preamp from standard phantom power sources, making it compatible with both wireless and wired signal chains.
