Frederick Martin Reiner was a distinguished conductor of opera and symphonic music in the twentieth century. Born and trained in Hungary, he moved to the United States in 1922 and quickly established himself as a leading figure in American classical music. His career reached its height as music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during the 1950s and early 1960s, where he was celebrated for his precise and dynamic performances.
