Guitar Nuts
The nut guides the strings between the tuning machines and fretboard and determines their spacing and height at the start of the neck. Choose a replacement by instrument type, overall width, bottom radius and slot layout. Even a pre-slotted model may require careful final fitting.
Pre-slotted nut or blank
- Pre-slotted nut: it makes replacement easier when the dimensions and slots match the original part.
- Blank: it can be customised but requires accurate shaping and suitable tools.
- Material: choose it with the required durability and smooth string movement through the slots in mind.
Incorrect slot depth can cause buzzing or an excessively high action, so professional installation is advisable if you are unsure.
