Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson in Brooklyn, New York, quickly became a leading voice in hip hop with his signature Brooklyn drill sound. Breaking out in 2019 with the hit singles Welcome to the Party and Dior, he gained recognition for his collaborations with UK drill producers, revitalizing the drill scene in New York. After signing with Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records, he released two influential mixtapes: Meet the Woo and Meet the Woo 2, the latter debuting in the top ten of the Billboard 200. Despite his life being tragically cut short in 2020, his debut studio album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, released posthumously and produced by 50 Cent, topped charts and produced several major hits. Pop Smoke remains a key figure in bringing Brooklyn drill into the mainstream.
