Procol Harum was an English rock band formed in 1967 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. They are best known for their classic hit "A Whiter Shade of Pale," a single that sold over ten million copies and became a defining song of the era. Their style combined baroque and classical influences with psychedelic rock, proto-progressive rock, and touches of blues, soul, and R and B. In 2018, "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Singles category.
