The Exploited are a punk rock band from Edinburgh, Scotland, formed in 1978. Emerging from the late seventies punk scene, they quickly built a dedicated following with their raw sound and anti-establishment lyrics. Their early releases, including the Army Life EP and debut album Punks Not Dead, became anthems for working class punks and skinheads throughout the 1980s. Over time, the band shifted from street punk to a heavier crossover thrash style with the album Death Before Dishonour in 1987. Despite numerous lineup changes, frontman Wattie Buchan has remained at the helm. The Exploited are known for their energetic live shows and continue to tour, though they have not released a new studio album since Fuck the System in 2003. Their influence can be heard in bands across punk and metal, with their songs even covered by acts like Slayer.
