The Highwaymen were an American country music supergroup formed by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. Active from 1985 to 1995, the group released three albums—two with Columbia Records and one with Liberty Records. They achieved major success with their chart-topping hit "Highwayman" and became known for their unique collaboration of legendary voices. Johnny Rodriguez made a guest appearance on their recording of "Deportee." The Highwaymen also appeared together in the film "Stagecoach." Despite a legal dispute with a folk group of the same name, the groups reached an agreement, allowing both to use the name and even performed together in 1990. The Highwaymen are remembered as icons of country music and celebrated for their powerful, collaborative sound.
