The Specials, also known as the Special AKA, were an influential English band from Coventry formed in 1977, known for pioneering the 2 Tone and ska revival movement. Blending ska, rocksteady, and punk, The Specials brought a sharp social and political edge to their lyrics, often penned by founder Jerry Dammers. With their signature rude boy style and energetic sound, the band scored UK chart-topping hits like Too Much Too Young and Ghost Town. After major success and lineup shifts in the early 1980s, members pursued other projects, but The Specials' legacy continued with reunions and tours featuring various lineups until the passing of lead vocalist Terry Hall in 2022.
