Trombone Stands
A trombone stand holds your instrument securely when you put it down during a rehearsal, at a concert or at home. On this page, you'll find trombone stands from Hercules and König & Meyer: floor tripods, a folding travel stand and a wall mount. There's also a mute holder that you can attach to a music stand or microphone stand. With a stand, your trombone stays off chairs and the floor, where the slide or bell can easily get damaged.
Which trombone stand should you choose?
- Tripod with a cone – place the bell over the adjustable cone, and the trombone stands upright on three legs. The König & Meyer 14985 has an adjustable height of 600 to 970 mm and is also suitable for a marching baritone, while the König & Meyer 149/9 adjusts from 555 to 865 mm.
- Stand with slide support – the Hercules DS520B has an EZ Top Bracket at the top with two slots that hold the slide brace. The stand is 860 mm tall and supports 5 kg.
- Travel stand that fits inside the bell – once folded, the Hercules TravLite DS420B fits inside the bell, so it takes up no space in the case. Velvet pads protect the instrument's finish.
- Wall mount – König & Meyer 44250 is a steel holder with an adjustable soft cone that won't scratch the instrument. To mount it, you need the König & Meyer 44060 adapter, which is not included.
What should you look for when buying a trombone stand?
First, decide where your trombone will stand. For rehearsals and concerts where you carry it in a case, a lightweight folding stand is a useful choice – the Hercules TravLite DS420B weighs 1.2 kg and fits inside the bell. At home or in a rehearsal room where the stand stays in one place, you'll appreciate a height-adjustable tripod or a wall mount that takes up no floor space.
Check which parts come into contact with your instrument, too. A cone and supports made of rubber, soft plastic or velvet won't scratch the bell's lacquer. If you switch mutes while playing, attach the Hercules HA-100 mute holder to your stand: it has foam-lined rings, rotates through 270° and fits poles with a diameter of 8 to 30 mm. You can also pair your trombone with trombone mutes and trombone cases. For saxophone, clarinet or flute stands, head to the wind instrument stands category.
