Angora Yarn

Angora yarn is soft and lightly fuzzy, made for knitting and crochet, and it feels light while still keeping you warm. Here you'll find the Alize Angora Gold, Angora Gold Batik, Angora Gold Simli and Angora Real 40 ranges, plus the Angora Active and Alpine Angora Melange ranges from Yarn Art. All of them are made from a blend of wool and acrylic – Angora is the name of the range, so you won't find pure angora rabbit wool here. Use them to knit scarves, hats, jumpers, cardigans and blankets for the colder months.

How do the angora yarn ranges differ?

• Alize Angora Gold – 80% acrylic and 20% wool, 100 g ≈ 550 m, needles 3 to 6 mm. A fine, warm yarn in solid shades.
• Alize Angora Gold Batik – the same composition and length as Angora Gold, but the colours blend smoothly into one another along the yarn, so the colour pattern appears all by itself.
• Alize Angora Gold Simli – wool and acrylic with a shiny metallic thread, 100 g ≈ 500 m. Well suited to festive knits.
• Alize Angora Real 40 – 60% acrylic and 40% wool, 100 g ≈ 430 m, needles 2.5 to 5 mm. More wool means a warmer knit.
• Yarn Art Angora Active – wool with acrylic, 100 g ≈ 500 m, needles 5 mm.
• Yarn Art Alpine Angora Melange – a chunky marled yarn, 150 g ≈ 150 m, needles 9 mm. Your knitting grows quickly with it.

Is angora yarn made from angora rabbits?

No. True angora wool is the fur of the angora rabbit. The yarns on this page carry the Angora name because they are soft and lightly fuzzy, but they are made from a blend of wool and acrylic. The wool adds warmth to your knitting, while the acrylic makes it lighter.

If you want a fuzzy yarn with goat fibre, take a look at mohair yarn. The whole Alize Angora Gold range also has its own page, and you'll find every type in the knitting yarn category.
