Bob Brookmeyer was an influential American jazz musician known for his work as a valve trombonist, pianist, arranger, and composer. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he rose to prominence in the 1950s with Gerry Mulligan’s quartet and later collaborated with Jimmy Giuffre. Brookmeyer was also a key member of Mulligan’s Concert Jazz Band and earned eight Grammy nominations throughout his career.
