Bruno Walter

Bruno Walter, born in Berlin in 1876, was a renowned conductor, pianist, and composer. After fleeing Nazi Germany in 1933, he became a French citizen and later settled in the United States. Closely associated with Gustav Mahler, Walter played a key role in bringing Mahler’s music to prominence. He held leading posts with major orchestras and opera houses in Europe and America, including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Celebrated for his influential recordings and artistic leadership, he is regarded as one of the foremost conductors of the 20th century.
