Calexico is an indie rock band from Tucson, Arizona, formed in 1996 by Joey Burns and John Convertino, who previously played together in Giant Sand. Known for blending genres, their music draws from Latin styles like mariachi and cumbia alongside country, jazz, and post-rock influences. Named after the border town Calexico, their unique sound is often called desert noir. Notable releases include a collaborative EP with Iron and Wine that reached the Billboard 200 charts.
