Compay Segundo, born Máximo Francisco Repilado Muñoz Telles in 1907, was a renowned Cuban guitarist, singer, and composer. A leading figure in the traditional trova style, he gained international fame later in life as a member of the Buena Vista Social Club. Known for his distinctive voice and mastery of the tres guitar, Compay Segundo became a symbol of Cuban music worldwide before passing away in 2003.
