Daft Punk

Daft Punk

Daft Punk was a pioneering French electronic music duo formed in Paris in 1993 by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. Emerging from the French house scene after their indie rock band Darlin' ended, they blended house, funk, disco, techno, rock, and synth-pop, becoming highly influential in modern electronic music. Known for their distinctive robot personas and rare media appearances, Daft Punk gained fame with their acclaimed 1997 debut album Homework, featuring hits like Around the World and Da Funk. Their 2001 album Discovery brought international success with singles such as One More Time and Harder Better Faster Stronger, and inspired the animated film Interstella 5555. Continuing to push boundaries, they explored new sounds and visuals with projects like Human After All, the science-fiction film Electroma, and the Grammy-winning live album Alive 2007. They also composed the score for the 2010 film Tron Legacy. In 2013, they released Random Access Memories, earning widespread acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, with Get Lucky becoming a global hit. Their collaboration with the Weeknd, Starboy, became their only Billboard Hot 100 number one. Recognized as one of the greatest musical duos and most influential figures in electronic music, Daft Punk announced their split in 2021.
