Drum Triggers

Triggers and switches in this cluster mainly cover sensing hits from drums or percussion parts and controlling electronic-kit functions by foot. They help add a digital sound to an acoustic drum, start a sampling pad or switch sounds without putting the sticks down. This is not a general category for all stage cables or guitar pedals; compatibility with the module, connector type and mounting method decide the choice.

When to use a trigger or switch

A drum trigger makes sense when you want to capture kick, snare or tom more precisely and mix an acoustic sound with an electronic layer. A footswitch is useful for changing kits, starting a loop or controlling a function in a module or sampling pads and multipads. Before buying, check whether the device supports the input type and whether you need mono, stereo or a maker-specific wiring.
