Rising from humble beginnings, she began her performing career as a teenager alongside her father before being discovered in Paris in 1935. Piaf quickly became a celebrated voice in cabaret and chanson music, captivating audiences with emotional songs about love and heartache. Her fame soared during and after World War II, especially with her signature song “La Vie en rose.” She found international success, performing throughout Europe, the Americas, and on American television. Known for her deeply expressive and autobiographical style, Piaf’s most famous songs also include “Non, je ne regrette rien,” “Hymne à l’amour,” “Milord,” and “La Foule.” She continued to perform until shortly before her death in 1963, leaving a legacy as a symbol of French music and culture.
