Electric Guitar and Amp Sets

Electric guitar and amp sets are all-in-one bundles: the box holds an electric guitar, a small guitar combo amp (an amplifier with a built-in speaker) and the accessories you need to start playing as soon as you unpack it. Most sets come with the Revoltage RV-10G combo rated at 10 W, while some include an Orange Crush 12 or a Fender Frontman 10G. You will usually also get an instrument cable, a clip-on tuner, a gig bag for the guitar and a stand or a strap. You can choose from Yamaha Pacifica, Fender Squier Sonic Stratocaster, Ibanez GIO and GRG, Jackson and SX sets, as well as sets from our own brands PSD Guitars and Pasadena.

What comes in an electric guitar and amp set?

The core of every set is the same: an electric guitar and a guitar combo, meaning the amplifier and speaker share one cabinet. A combo of 10 to 20 W is enough for practising at home in your room. The cable connects the guitar to the combo, the clip-on tuner clips onto the headstock and the soft gig bag protects the guitar when you carry it. Depending on the set, you also get a guitar stand, a strap, plectrums or a string winder. The exact contents are listed with each set.

Which guitar shape should a beginner choose?

Most sets include an ST-shaped guitar (Stratocaster) – an all-round guitar for pop, rock and blues, with single-coil pickups or with a humbucker at the bridge (HSS). Super-ST models such as the Ibanez GRG or Jackson have a slimmer neck and a sharper sound for rock and metal. T-style models (Telecaster) sound bright and suit country, indie and rock. You will also find sets with singlecut and semi-acoustic guitars.

Left-handed players can choose sets with a left-handed guitar, for example the Fender Squier Sonic Stratocaster LH. A smaller guitar suits children better – the sets include the Squier Mini Stratocaster, Squier Affinity Stratocaster Junior, Jackson Dinky Minion and Ibanez JEM-JR. You will find more guitars in smaller sizes in the 3/4 electric guitars category.

Should I buy a set, or a guitar and amp separately?

A set is simpler: the parts are matched and you do not have to track anything down. If you already know which guitar you want, or you plan to play in a band, pick a guitar from our electric guitars for beginners and add a more powerful guitar combo amp.
