Elliot Goldenthal, born May 2, 1954, is an American composer noted for his inventive approach to contemporary classical music and film scores. A former student of Aaron Copland and John Corigliano, he is recognized for skillfully merging diverse musical styles. Goldenthal received the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2002 for the film Frida, directed by Julie Taymor.
