Eric Burdon and The Animals
The Animals are an English rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1962, known for their raw, blues-influenced sound and dynamic live performances. Their classic lineup featured Eric Burdon on vocals, Hilton Valentine on guitar, Chas Chandler on bass, Alan Price on keyboards, and John Steel on drums. Rising to fame as part of the British Invasion, they are best remembered for their landmark hit The House of the Rising Sun, along with other popular songs like We Gotta Get Out of This Place, It's My Life, and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.
Despite several lineup changes and periods of inactivity, The Animals had significant impact in both the UK and US, earning ten top-20 hits on both sides of the Atlantic. Over the years, members reunited for special performances and tours under names like Eric Burdon and the Animals and Animals and Friends. The original members were honored with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
