Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim is the stage name of Norman Quentin Cook, an influential English musician and DJ who was central to the rise of the big beat genre in the 1990s. Known for his energetic tracks built from diverse samples, catchy rhythms, and memorable vocal hooks, he became one of the most recognisable names in electronic music. Before adopting the Fatboy Slim moniker, Cook played bass for the Housemartins in the 1980s, scoring a UK number one with "Caravan of Love." He later moved into dance music, forming Beats International, who topped the charts with "Dub Be Good to Me," and worked under aliases like Pizzaman and the Mighty Dub Katz. Fatboy Slim’s breakthrough came with albums like Better Living Through Chemistry and the multi-platinum You've Come a Long Way, Baby, featuring hits such as "Praise You" and "The Rockafeller Skank." Later successes included "Weapon of Choice," whose iconic music video won multiple MTV Awards. Over time, Cook explored collaborations, notably with David Byrne, and increasingly focused on live DJ sets. He has received major accolades including a Grammy, multiple MTV Video Music Awards, Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award. In 2023, he set a Guinness world record for the most UK number-one singles as a member of different groups. Cook’s personal life, including his highly publicised marriage to Zoe Ball, has also attracted attention.
