Michael Peter Balzary, known as Flea, is an acclaimed Australian-American musician and actor, best known as the bassist and founding member of Red Hot Chili Peppers. With Anthony Kiedis, Flea has been a constant presence in the band, contributing to all their albums and helping define their unique blend of funk, punk, and rock. Beyond the Chili Peppers, he has played with supergroups such as Atoms for Peace and Rocket Juice and the Moon, and collaborated with artists like Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, and Nirvana. Recognized by Rolling Stone readers as one of the greatest bassists of all time, Flea was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. He has also appeared in films and TV, including Back to the Future Part II, The Big Lebowski, and Baby Driver. Flea co-founded the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, supporting music education for underprivileged youth, and released his memoir, Acid for the Children, in 2019.
