Geddy Lee, born Gary Lee Weinrib on July 29, 1953, is a Canadian musician acclaimed as the lead vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist of the rock band Rush. He joined Rush in 1968 at the invitation of guitarist Alex Lifeson. Renowned for his unique bass playing and powerful vocals, Lee has influenced generations of rock musicians, including members of Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Primus. In 1996, he and his Rush bandmates became the first rock band named Officers of the Order of Canada. Rush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. Lee released his solo album, My Favourite Headache, in 2000, and is widely regarded as one of rock’s top vocalists and instrumentalists.
