Helen Merrill, born Jelena Ana Milcetic in 1929, is an influential American jazz singer. She rose to prominence with her acclaimed 1954 debut album featuring Clifford Brown, becoming closely linked to the early bebop movement. After a successful start, she recorded and performed extensively in Europe and Japan, before making a notable comeback in the United States during the 1980s and 1990s with recordings for major labels and renewed performances.
