Hi-STANDARD is a Japanese punk rock band founded in 1991 by Akihiro Nanba, Ken Yokoyama, and Akira Tsuneoka. Gaining international attention with their album Making the Road, the band sold out venues in Japan and toured with well-known punk acts in the US and Europe. Notably, their major releases are performed entirely in English. After the passing of drummer Akira Tsuneoka in 2023, Nanba and Yokoyama continued as a duo. Hi-STANDARD was recognized by HMV in 2003 as one of the most important Japanese pop acts.
