Ibanez Q52FMG-DRL Deep Twilight Burst Headless guitar
With constant advances in guitar technology, the growing relevance of technically demanding playing styles, and the desire of many musicians for lighter, more transportable instruments, modern headless guitars have evolved far beyond earlier concepts. Despite these rapid innovations, Ibanez continued to recognize enormous potential—and used it to realize the Q or Quest series not as a further development of an existing model, but as a completely new instrument concept developed from the ground up. The goal of the Quest series was to combine maximum sound quality, performance, and playing comfort in a radically modern design. To this end, numerous exclusive components were developed, including the custom-made R1 single-coil and Q58 humbucker pickups, the newly designed Mono-Tune bridge, and a proprietary, extremely low-maintenance string clamping mechanism. Within the QX sub-series, innovative eight-degree slanted frets provide ergonomic optimization that particularly benefits technically skilled players. The result is a versatile instrument platform that appeals to both modern high-performance guitarists and musicians who would never have considered a headless guitar before, regardless of genre or stylistic background. At its heart is the 3-piece Wizard C neck made of roasted maple and bubinga, whose balanced profile is neither too thin nor too thick or flat, supporting a wide variety of playing techniques. The combination of a roasted birdseye maple fingerboard, which has been heat-treated, provides an exotic appearance and a tonal foundation of controlled attack and long sustain. This is complemented by robust jumbo stainless steel frets, which are corrosion-resistant and enable particularly precise response with effortless articulation. The body construction, consisting of a flamed maple top on an ash body, combines an expressive grain with pleasant brilliance and natural sustain. The Q58 humbuckers, specially developed for headless guitars, deliver a clearly defined, perfectly balanced sound across the entire frequency spectrum: powerful but transparent bass, detailed mids, and brilliant highs without sharp peaks. Thanks to minimal background noise, they harmonize perfectly with both analog and digital effects chains and ensure maximum transparency even with complex chord structures. The specially developed string lock system impresses with its simple yet robust design, makes changing strings easier, and allows you to choose the gauge and manufacturer of your choice. The mono-tune bridges allow for flexible, large-scale intonation adjustment—ideal for alternative tunings—and also offer individually adjustable string action and a particularly natural, organic sound. The flexible dyna-MIX10 switching system expands the tonal horizon with ten switching options, including mini-switch switching between humbucker and single-coil modes, while the power tap enables additional authentic single-coil sounds. Luminous side dots on the fretboard ensure optimal orientation on dark stages, and the specially customized Ibanez gig bag included in the scope of delivery provides safe and comfortable protection on the go. With the Q series, Ibanez opens up new creative possibilities for guitarists of all styles – and invites them to rethink the limits of what is possible in terms of sound and playing technique.
Тype: Headless Guitar
A headless guitar is an electric guitar without a headstock, where the tuning machines are located on the bridge. This design reduces weight and balances the instrument, making it easier to play and more portable. Guitars of this type have a modern look and are popular in progressive and experimental music.
Finish: Satin
The satin finish is popular for its ability to combine the properties of both a glossy and matte finish. This type of finish provides a soft sheen, less intense than gloss but more pronounced than matte. This creates a smooth to touch, lightly reflective surface which gives an elegant and sophisticated appearance. The satin finish is ideal for those looking for a balance between visual appeal and convenience, as it can hide small imperfections and fingerprints better than glossy surfaces.
Body: Ash
Ash is a hardwood with a dense grain that produces a bright, punchy tone with well-defined highs and solid bass. It is known for its resonance and natural dynamics, making it suitable for musical styles where a strong sonic response is desired.
Pickups Configuration: HH
The humbucker-humbucker configuration means that the guitar is equipped with two humbucker pickups. It offers a powerful, full sound with high output and low noise, ideal for rock and metal.
