Information Society is an influential American electronic band formed in Minneapolis–St. Paul, known for their innovative blend of synth-pop and dance music. Originally active from the early eighties to the late nineties, the core lineup featured Paul Robb, James Cassidy, and Kurt Harland Larson. Their 1988 hit single "What's on Your Mind Pure Energy" became a dance anthem, notable for its sample of Mr. Spock's voice from Star Trek and its strong chart success. After regrouping in the mid-2000s, the band continued to make music and perform, earning a star on the First Avenue nightclub mural in Minneapolis, a major recognition in the city’s music scene.
