INXS

INXS was an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1977, originally as the Farriss Brothers. The classic lineup featured Garry Gary Beers, Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Michael Hutchence, and Kirk Pengilly. Fronted for two decades by Hutchence, known for his magnetic stage presence, the band first found national success in 1984 with the hit Original Sin. INXS became internationally famous in the late 1980s and early 1990s with albums like Listen Like Thieves, Kick, and X, and songs such as What You Need, Need You Tonight, Devil Inside, Never Tear Us Apart, Suicide Blonde, and New Sensation. Blending new wave, rock, funk, and dance influences, they sold over seventy five million albums worldwide. After Hutchence’s death in 1997, INXS continued with various guest vocalists and new lead singers, ending with their final live performance in 2012. The group won multiple ARIA awards and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, cementing their place as one of Australia’s most successful music acts.
