John Brumwell Mayall was an influential English blues and rock musician, songwriter, and producer whose career spanned nearly seventy years. Best known for founding John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers in the 1960s, he played a key role in shaping British blues and launched the careers of several legendary musicians. A versatile performer on vocals, guitar, harmonica, and keyboards, Mayall remained musically active until his passing at age ninety.
