Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin was an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group featured Robert Plant on vocals, Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards, and John Bonham on drums. Renowned for their powerful, guitar-driven sound inspired by blues and folk, Led Zeppelin is recognized as a key influence in the creation of hard rock and heavy metal. Emerging from the Yardbirds and briefly known as the New Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin signed with Atlantic Records under a deal granting them creative control. Despite early critical skepticism, they quickly gained massive commercial success. Iconic albums include their 1969 debut Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II with "Whole Lotta Love," Led Zeppelin III, the landmark fourth album featuring "Stairway to Heaven," and later releases such as Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. Jimmy Page composed most of their music while Robert Plant contributed the majority of the lyrics. The band became known for their dynamic live shows and record-breaking tours during the 1970s. Following John Bonham’s death in 1980, Led Zeppelin disbanded, although surviving members have reunited for select performances, notably in 2007 with Bonham’s son, Jason. Led Zeppelin stands among the best-selling artists in music history, with hundreds of millions of albums sold worldwide and multiple chart-topping releases. Their impact on rock music is profound, influencing generations and earning them induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
