Chic is an American disco band formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. Known for shaping the sound of the disco era, they released major hits like "Dance Dance Dance," "Le Freak," "I Want Your Love," and "Good Times" between 1977 and 1979. Chic described themselves as a rock band for the disco generation, embracing themes of peace, love, and freedom. In 2017, the group was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the eleventh time.
