Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson is an American rock band formed in 1989 by vocalist Marilyn Manson and guitarist Daisy Berkowitz in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Known for their provocative image and theatrical live shows, the band originally performed as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, quickly building a cult following in South Florida. In 1993, they became the first act signed to Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records. Throughout the 1990s, the band’s members adopted stage names inspired by famous women and serial killers and became infamous for shocking costumes, controversial lyrics, and onstage antics. Highlights of their career include platinum albums such as Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, along with distinctive music videos and extensive touring that brought them global recognition. The group frequently sparked controversy, with their music and stage presence leading to bans in several US states and ongoing media debates. Despite waning mainstream popularity after the early 2000s, Marilyn Manson remains an influential and iconic presence in rock music. Their work has influenced many artists across genres and pop culture. The band has been inducted into the Kerrang Hall of Fame, ranked among the top rock artists by VH1, and has achieved multiple Grammy nominations and over 50 million records sold worldwide.
