Merch Picks

Merch picks, also called plectrums, are playable guitar picks featuring logos and artwork from rock and metal bands. Each pack contains five picks with a thickness of 1 mm in different colours, so you can play with them as well as collect them. The designs cover the heavy metal of Iron Maiden and Motörhead, the hard rock of AC/DC and Guns N' Roses, and modern metal bands such as Slipknot, Gojira and Sleep Token. The picks are made of plastic or nylon, with the material listed for each set.

Can you play normally with merch picks featuring band artwork?

Yes, merch picks are regular playing picks with printed designs. At 1 mm thick, they are on the harder side: they give a firm attack for riffs and solos on an electric guitar, while feeling stiffer than thin picks when you strum chords gently on an acoustic guitar. With five in a pack, you'll still have picks to play with if one drops into the soundhole or gets lost at rehearsal.

Which bands and eras are featured on the picks?

• Heavy metal: Iron Maiden with the Early Albums, Later Albums and The Faces of Eddie sets, featuring different versions of their mascot Eddie, plus Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne and Motörhead.
• Hard rock: AC/DC, Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe.
• Thrash and groove metal: Metallica with the 72 Seasons set and Pantera with the Vulgar Display of Power set.
• Modern metal and metalcore: Slipknot, Gojira, Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, System of a Down and Sleep Token.
• Rock and punk: Pink Floyd, Queen with the Brian May set and The Offspring.

You'll find T-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs and other band merchandise in the Merch – Music category.

Who would enjoy a pick set as a small extra gift?

A set of five picks is small and light, making it a useful addition to a larger gift, such as a new guitar or a T-shirt featuring the same band. It will appeal to guitarists and bassists who play with a pick. If the person you're buying for plays drums, choose merch drumsticks instead.
