Music Socks
Merch socks feature logos and album covers from dozens of bands and artists, mainly from rock and metal. There are plenty of designs from The Beatles, followed by The Rolling Stones, Slipknot, Nirvana, Queen, AC/DC and Iron Maiden, with Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Yungblud, Eminem and Wu-Tang Clan representing pop and rap. Most pairs come in adult unisex sizing, while women's styles have smaller sizes and often a terry knit. Socks make a small gift, so some come in a gift box or a pack of three pairs.
Merch socks: ankle, terry or taller crew styles?
Most of the range consists of shorter ankle socks made from cotton with polyamide and elastane. They take up little space inside a shoe, so you can wear them in trainers too. Terry socks have a looped knit on the inside, are thicker and warmer, and suit winter shoes or wearing at home. Taller crew socks reach above the ankle towards the calf, making the band design more visible, for example with shorts or short trousers.
Which sock size should you choose for a good fit?
Sock sizes are given as a range of shoe sizes. A unisex pair in 40–45 (UK 7–11) fits most men's feet, while 36–40 (UK 4–7) is for smaller feet and women's styles. Some pairs have a range of 39–45, 38–42 or 43–46, so if your size is on a boundary, such as 40, check the range of that particular pair. One Size corresponds to a typical adult foot; if the recipient has very small or large feet, choose a pair with a stated size range instead.
How do you choose socks as a gift for a fan?
Start with the band the recipient listens to, then choose between a logo and a particular album. The Beatles have a whole series of socks with the Abbey Road crossing, and AC/DC have designs with the Back in Black album cover. Pink Floyd, Queen, AC/DC and Guns N' Roses, for example, have three pairs in a guitar-shaped tin, while other bands package their socks in a gift box that needs no wrapping.
Socks are also included in gift sets for fans, alongside a T-shirt and a record, while festive band designs are in the Christmas merch section. A music T-shirt featuring the same band also goes well with the socks.
