Nena, born Gabriele Susanne Kerner in 1960, is a German pop singer best known for leading the band Nena and their international hit "99 Luftballons" in 1983, later released in English as "99 Red Balloons." After her initial success with the band, Nena revived her solo career in 2002 by re-recording some of her classic hits. Throughout her career, she has sold over 25 million records, making her one of the most successful German pop artists ever.
