Neneh Cherry, born Neneh Mariann Karlsson on March 10, 1964, is a Swedish singer, songwriter, rapper, and occasional DJ. She began her career in early 1980s London, performing with punk and post-punk bands such as the Slits and Rip Rig Panic. Known for her unique sound blending pop, hip hop, and alternative influences, Cherry gained international fame with her 1989 debut album Raw Like Sushi and the hit single Buffalo Stance. Over her career, she has released six studio albums, formed the band cirKus, and collaborated with artists like the Thing. Cherry's work has earned her two Brit Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, and a Grammy nomination.
