Oasis
Oasis are a British rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally featuring Liam Gallagher as lead vocalist, Paul Arthurs on guitar, Paul McGuigan on bass, and Tony McCarroll on drums, the lineup was soon completed by guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher. The band quickly rose to fame as one of the most influential Britpop acts of the 1990s.
Their debut album Definitely Maybe and its follow-up (What's the Story) Morning Glory were both record-breaking successes, the latter becoming one of the best-selling albums in UK history. Known for hits like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, Oasis had a notorious public rivalry with Blur and were frequently in the media spotlight for the Gallagher brothers' headline-grabbing behavior.
After lineup changes and world tours, Oasis released a total of seven studio albums before disbanding in 2009. The Gallagher brothers then pursued solo careers. In 2024, Oasis reunited for a worldwide tour with a lineup including both Gallaghers, Paul Arthurs, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell.
With over 75 million albums sold, multiple UK chart-topping singles and albums, and numerous music awards, Oasis remain one of the most successful and iconic bands in modern British music.
