Pestilence is a death metal band from the Netherlands, formed in Enschede in 1986. Renowned for their technical approach, the group has undergone numerous lineup changes, with guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli serving as the constant driving force. After initially disbanding in 1994 and reuniting in 2008, Pestilence briefly went on hiatus in 2014 before returning again in 2016. With a discography of ten studio albums, they are widely recognized as one of the pioneers of technical death metal, standing alongside influential acts like Death, Atheist, and Cynic.
