Raven is an English heavy metal band formed in 1974 by brothers John and Mark Gallagher. Known for their energetic "athletic rock" style, they became a prominent part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement in the 1980s. Over their career, Raven has released fifteen studio albums and scored a hit with the single "On and On". The band is widely recognized for influencing the thrash metal genre and inspiring major acts such as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Raven also made history by headlining Metallica's first national tour in 1983.
