Staind is an American rock band from Springfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. The group originally featured Aaron Lewis on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mike Mushok on lead guitar, Johnny April on bass, and Jon Wysocki on drums, with Sal Giancarelli later replacing Wysocki in 2011. Known for their powerful blend of alternative metal and post-grunge, Staind found major success in the early 2000s with the album Break the Cycle, which went five times platinum and produced the hit single "It's Been Awhile." Their next two albums also reached number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned hits like "So Far Away" and "Right Here." Staind's catalog includes eight studio albums, with their latest release being Confessions of the Fallen in 2023. Although band activity slowed in the 2010s due to members pursuing other projects, Staind remains known for their raw emotional sound and chart-topping singles.
