Tremolo Mounting Studs

Tremolo mounting studs are the two posts that support the knife edges of a Floyd Rose tremolo and act as its pivot points when you use the arm. The studs screw into inserts pressed into the guitar body. Worn or damaged studs affect the tremolo’s movement and its ability to return to pitch, so they are replaced as a set. Here you’ll find genuine Floyd Rose studs and inserts for the Original, Pro, 1000, Special and FRX series, plus Fender inserts for two-point Stratocaster tremolos.

Which tremolo mounting studs fit your Floyd Rose tremolo?

Each set is designed for a specific tremolo series, so choose according to the series fitted to your guitar:

• Original: for Floyd Rose Original and Pro Series, 2 studs and 2 inserts, made in Germany.
• 1000 Special: for the Floyd Rose 1000 and Special series, 2 studs and 2 inserts.
• FRX: for the surface-mounted FRX tremolo, 2 studs; self-adhesive pads for the studs are also available separately.

Floyd Rose studs come in chrome, nickel, black, black nickel and gold finishes, as well as satin and antique shades, so you can match them to the other hardware on your guitar.

Metric or imperial threads for FRX?

FRX studs are sold with two thread types: metric M8 × 1.25 and imperial UNC 5/16-24. The stud’s thread must match the thread in the guitar body, so check the thread on the original stud or the guitar manufacturer’s specifications before ordering.

Do you have a Stratocaster with a two-point tremolo?

Fender anchors the synchronised two-point tremolo on American, American Standard, Ultra and certain Custom Shop Stratocaster models made from 1986 onwards in two internally threaded inserts. You’ll find the genuine set of these two inserts on this page. Complete tremolos, arms, saddles and other parts are in the Tremolos and vibratos category.
