Tuba and Euphonium Stands

A tuba stand holds your large brass instrument securely when you put it down during rehearsals, at concerts or at home. On this page, you’ll find tuba and euphonium stands as well as stands for tenor horns, baritone horns, alto horns and sousaphones from König & Meyer and Hercules. All of them fold up, so you can take them to the rehearsal room or a concert. For a tuba, you can also choose a playing stand that supports the instrument while you play sitting down or standing up. This keeps the instrument off the floor or a chair, where it could easily tip over and get scratched.

Which tuba and euphonium stands should you choose?

  • Low folding tuba stand – you rest the tuba on the lower support, while two arms hold it at the sides. König & Meyer 14940 is designed for both German- and English-style tubas; you can adjust the height from 310 to 415 mm and the support width from 275 to 455 mm. König & Meyer 14945 is designed for a large kingsize tuba, with velvet-covered arms and levelling feet for uneven floors.
  • Stand for baritone, tenor and alto horns – König & Meyer 14941 is a low stand with a height of 310 to 415 mm and a support width of 200 to 305 mm. The taller König & Meyer 149/2 has an upright pole, adjusts from 620 to 1 050 mm and also includes a mouthpiece holder.
  • Tall stand for tuba and euphonium – Hercules DS552B, with a height of 915 to 1 075 mm and extending supports, holds a tuba, euphonium, baritone horn or alto horn weighing up to 30 kg.
  • Playing stand (Tuba Performer) – the tuba rests on the stand while you play, so you don’t have to hold it the whole time. König & Meyer 14950 is designed for seated playing, with a height of 450 to 800 mm; 14951 is for playing while standing, with a height of 650 to 1 140 mm. Both hold a tuba weighing up to 10 kg, and a locking pin secures the height setting.
  • Sousaphone stand – König & Meyer 149/3 has an adjustable support for all types of sousaphones and an adjustable leg for uneven ground. Hercules DS551B has a folding upper yoke with a locking pin and a load capacity of 30 kg.

What should you check when buying a tuba stand?

First, check which instrument and size the stand is designed for. A standard tuba, a large kingsize tuba and a sousaphone each have their own stand models. Hercules DS552B holds a euphonium, while König & Meyer 14941 or 149/2 also hold baritone and tenor horns. Supports covered in rubber, plastic or velvet protect the instrument’s finish.

If you play long rehearsals or concerts, consider a playing stand that carries the weight of the tuba for you. A low folding stand is useful for travelling, as it takes up little space when folded. You can find the instruments themselves in the tubas and sousaphones and tenor and baritone horns categories, and stands for other wind instruments in the wind instrument stands category.
