Vidiek is a Slovak pop-rock band formed in 1986 in Rovinka by Ján Kuric and Ondrej Tomčala, both former members of Ventil RG. The group was later joined by Kamil Grebeň, Richard Jajcay, Peter Dobrota, and Peter Sojka. Originally considering the name Jano a jeho družina, the band ultimately adopted the name Vidiek, inspired by their first original song Vidiečan. Known for their playful and satirical take on amateur band performances, Vidiek combines humor with impressive musical skill and songwriting. Their 1988 debut album Nechajte si ju featured early hits like Vidiečan, Tisíc divov, Film, and Nechajte si ju, as well as the popular Ventil RG song Fajčenie škodí zdraviu. Other well-known tracks include Rudy a Hilda, Anglická, Keď je 7 ráno zapnem rádio, and Môžeš závidieť. Vidiek also made a cameo as a hotel band in the 1994 film Vášnivý bozk.
