Vinyl LP Records - Pop / Dance / Disco
Pop, dance and disco vinyl LP records here span Frank Sinatra and The Beatles, Abba and Michael Jackson, through to Adele, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Alongside studio albums such as Thriller, Abbey Road or 21, there are greatest-hits collections including Abba Gold, Number Ones and The Best of Sade. The dance-oriented side of the genre is represented by disco, dance pop and synth pop, as well as Daft Punk with Random Access Memories. With favourite titles, it is worth comparing black vinyl, coloured vinyl, anniversary and remastered editions.
Are you looking for disco, synth pop or K-pop?
- Disco – the dance rhythm of the seventies, with strings and a prominent bassline, also echoed in Random Access Memories by Daft Punk.
- Dance pop – pop songs built for the dance floor.
- Synth pop – synthesisers and electronic rhythms whose golden era was the eighties.
- Dream pop – a dreamy, slower sound with layers of effects, such as Cigarettes After Sex.
- K-pop – South Korean pop, with its own page for albums on vinyl.
Alternative pop, art pop, europop and indie pop also have their own pages. Indie pop and pop rock often overlap with rock in the selection, so you will also find some artists on the Classic Rock / Blues page.
A greatest-hits collection or a studio album?
If you want one record of an artist's familiar songs, choose a hits collection: Abba Gold, Number Ones by Michael Jackson, The Best of Sade or My Songs by Sting. A studio album, on the other hand, captures an artist at a particular point in time: Thriller and Bad by Michael Jackson, Born To Die by Lana Del Rey or Currents by Tame Impala.
Some titles come in several versions. Number Ones is offered on black and red vinyl, both as two-LP reissues, and Abba Gold as a reissue on two 180-gram records in a fold-out sleeve, known as a gatefold. Alongside albums on 12-inch LPs, you will also find 7-inch singles and EPs with one or a few tracks.
